Emancipation Life Paths of Portuguese Cigano/Roma Women

In Portuguese society, some Cigano/Roma women, during their life paths, distance themselves from the Cigano cultural tradition, particularly in regard to marriage, schooling, employment and social life. On one hand, there is a feeling of attachment traditional values as family pressure marry or relation gender differentiation; on other these women express desire for empowerment autonomy emancipation order draw up own trajectories projects. The results obtained with 21 in-depth interviews, 10 11 men, indicate that face greater difficulties early inbred marriage are more prone be victims domestic violence, but they also main drivers change transformation families.
